Распиновка

У irf540 следующая цоколевка, он имеет три гибких вывода, слева на право: затвор (G), сток (D) и исток (S). Радиатор физически соединен с выводом стока. Чаще всего представляет собой полупроводниковое устройство с изолированным затвором  (IG-FET), в пластмассовом корпусе ТО-220AB. Между выводами стока и истока встроен паразитный диод.  Распиновка представлена на рисунке.

Примерно до 1990 года, некоторые экземпляры от IR, выпускались в корпусе для поверхностного монтажа SMD-220. IRF540FI от компании STM был исполнен в нестандартном корпусе ISOWATT220 или ТО-220FI. В настоящее время появились улучшенные модификации этого транзистора, в более современном корпусном исполнении. Так Vishay, производит их в корпусе ТО-262, например IRF540ZL и D2PAK (он же TO-263 или SOT404), с маркировкой: IRF540S (SiHF540S), IRF540NS (SiHF540NS), IRF540ZS.

Принцип работы

IRF540 может быть включен или выключен при подаче требуемого порогового напряжения затвора (VGS). Переход сток-исток закрыт, когда на него напряжение не подается. При подаче напряжения, переход открывается. В нашем случае, при появлении на затворе напряжения в 5 В, переход откроется и будет пропускать ток. Схематично работа полевика представлена на рисунке.

Если переход открыт и надо его закрыть, то на затвор надо подать 0 В. До этого момента полевик останется открытым. Чтобы избежать этой проблемы, обычно используют понижающий резистор (R1). На рисунке от представлен сопротивлением в 10 кОм. В таких приложениях, как управление скоростью двигателя или регулировка яркости света, используют сигнал ШИМ для быстрого переключения. При этом емкость затвора MOSFET создает обратный ток из-за паразитного эффекта. Чтобы решить эту проблему, применяют ограничивающий конденсатор. На рисунке он представлен емкостью C1 — 470 пФ.
